Never has this icon been more accurate. This thread is long overdue. Months overdue. (Most of you can guess the reasons why.) I don't know how many of you are even checking LJ all that regularly anymore, but for those of you who are, here's a thread to talk about this new season. What are you watching? What have you given up on? What are you thinking about in general? Do you miss the regular discussion threads? Do I even still need to keep posting the thread rules? Well, in case I do...

Remember:
(1) Keep the conversation centered on scripted television related topics. (Dramas, comedies, reality tv, even documentaries are all fine.)
(2) Put the show and season (or episode) in the subject line.
(3) Track your thread! There might be some really interesting posts later you might otherwise miss.
(4) One show (or episode) per post and only one sub-thread for each show (or episode). It makes it easier for others to follow the convers

Burn Notice
Only because I have it on a season pass - it's not funny anymore and without the funny I am not enjoying it :-(

NCIS
I'm enjoying it again after a few seasons of it boring me senseless.

I love this show but man, when you think things couldn't get any sadder, they slug us with something else. Meep. It's like they know we're sad at only having a half season before it all ends, they are making the episodes so sad, it'll almost be a relief when it's over (Almost. I love that show so much).

HOMELAND - season 2
Loving it this season. Claire Danes is an amazing actress!

What's up with Peter from the CIA? Meeting people on buses? Dodgy!

Re: HOMELAND - season 2
I'm finally finding time to watch my tifaux'd season 2 eps. OMG, this is as dense and dark as my beloved "Tinker Tailor" was in its heyday.HOMELAND treats the issue of trust and betrayal with as deft a hand as Le Carre' did.

And I find the actress playing the daughter as compelling to watch as Danes, who, I agree, is amazing.

I'm watching Scandal. Am completely hooked (despite the need to frequently suspend disbelief.)

I'm watching Elementary. It's kind of like Sherlock-lite, but the characters are interesting. Keeping me watching so far, at any rate.

I keep downloading Once Upon A Time, but never quite getting around to watching the eps. I liked the first season. This may turn out to be one of those that I prefer to watch all in a lump, actually.

I think I'm just holding out for next season, and Crossbones, which is supposed to be Hugh Laurie in the role of Blackbeard. :-)

I have all of Homeland saved to the tifaux, but whenever I think about starting to watch it, something (like a national election) intervenes. Right now it's all I can do to keep up with the liberal news media. MSNBC has become my new Bravo.

I had all of Covert Affairs saved, but decided I did not care enough about it to watch, so I deleted them all, but something told me to watch the last episode. That was shippingly good enough for me.

Looking forward to the second season of Newsroom, though. Sorkin will always be appointment TV, in my house.

And, yes, I do miss the discussion threads. I check in every few days, to see if anything has surfaced.

No cable, elinor, so sadly I can't watch any of your shows (although they do sound good!)

I love Covert Affairs and Annie and Auggie as characters, but I'm kind of 'meh' on them together. I liked her with Simon, and failing that, Eyal. I really liked her friendship with Auggie. I hope it doesn't get FUBAR'd.

But I suppose the good news is more shots of a shirtless Chris Gorham. I can get behind that.

Let's see.....HOMELAND. OMFG. It's been a really long time since a season finale has left me both satisfied on many levels and also really intrigued about what will happen next. Well done.

I just started watching series 3 of Downton, after it sat on my hard drive for months. It's excellent, of course. I agree with Ana on NCIS - I haven't been bored, exactly, but this season has been really good. I'm super excited for the next few weeks, with Suits (Mike and Rachel! Maybe!) and White Collar both coming back. Covert Affairs had some really good stuff, and I'm looking forward to Fairly Legal returning (though I see now that it's been cancelled - what???). Hawaii Five-0 is amusing and keeps me entertained; so does Blue Bloods, though they need to bring back that nice girl played by Natalie Knepp so she can sleep with Jamie.

When is The Newsroom on again? Definitely watching that. I'm also intrigued by The Americans, which starts on FX in a few weeks. At first I thought it was trying to be Homeland, which would be stupid because it would fail, but it looks different enough to interest me. And last but not least, Lewis is starting up again on January 7th. Yay, Lawrence Fox. He's dishy.

The Newsroom
When is The Newsroom on again?

It started yesterday. It's very dialog dense, so much so that I had to watch it twice, and some sections more than that, to get it all. Will seems more comfortable in his role, Mack is less shrill and possibly less stupid; Maggie apparently went to Africa, experienced a life-changing event, cut her hair and stopped walking into walls. So, all-in-all, a positive viewing experience.

And, on Tuesday, we get the start of Covert Affairs.

OK, what I want to know is why is everybody in "The Newsroom" muttering? Sloan, who was so sharp last season, has lost her edge. Mac chews her lines, and even Will is sometimes unclear. I don't remember that ever being an issue in TWW. A lot of the dialog is fuzzy, but it's the delivery I'm complaining about. Maybe the camera work is to blame; we see people at odd angles, not close-up, when they're delivering their lines. Makes it hard to decipher what they're saying, is all I'm sayin'.

Rules of the Road

• PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS!! There’s a big difference between having a respectful disagreement and outright belligerence, as 99.44% of you know. For the .56% percent who don’t, this isn’t the place for you. Being the loudest one in the room, won’t get you nearly as far as being the one with the most thoughtful, introspective observations.

• Track the changes of any of the shows that you are watching/following. In this age of streaming sites and DVDs, we all won’t be watching the same show at the same time. It might be days/weeks/months/years(!) in between when you last posted and someone else responds to something you said.

• Keep the conversation centered on scripted television related topics. Dramas, comedies, reality tv, even documentaries are all fine. Movies, sporting events, rock concerts, not so much.

• The topic for the weekly threads is merely a suggestion. Feel free to talk about a show that has nothing to do with the weekly topic!

• For the sake of your mods sanity, please put the show and season (or episode) in the subject line of your comments. It makes it easier when we go back and tag the threads.

• One show (or episode) per post and only one sub-thread for each show (or episode). It makes it easier for others to follow the conversation.

• The Mods are your friends. Please feel free to contact us with any questions, comments or requests.

• Pardon our dust. This is a new thing we’re trying out here. While we have tried to anticipate this community’s needs, rules will be modified as we find out what works and what doesn't. Please bear with us.
